Daily care

Caring for your dentures

Good habits keep your dentures clean, comfortable, and lasting longer.

Do

  • Remove and rinse your dentures after eating
  • Brush them daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner
  • Keep them moist overnight, in water or a soaking solution
  • Handle them over a folded towel or a sink of water
  • Keep up with regular checkups so we can check the fit

Avoid

  • Regular toothpaste, which can scratch the surface
  • Hot or boiling water, which can warp the shape
  • Bleach or whitening cleaners
  • Bending the clasps on a partial denture
  • Adjusting or repairing them yourself

Questions

Denture FAQs

Most people begin to adjust within a few weeks. Speaking and eating may feel different at first, and some soreness is normal. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, and read aloud to practice speaking. If a sore spot doesn’t improve, call us for an adjustment.

With good care, dentures typically last several years. Because your gums and jaw bone change over time, your dentures may need relining or adjusting to keep a comfortable fit, and eventually replacing.

You can confidently eat most softer foods once you’ve adjusted. Very hard, sticky, or chewy foods are harder with traditional dentures. Implant-supported dentures stay in place while you chew, so most patients can enjoy a wider range of foods.

Our implant dentures snap securely onto implants and can be removed for cleaning. If you’d prefer teeth that stay in permanently, ask about our fixed full-arch bridges.

Yes. With immediate dentures, we place your new denture right after your extractions, so you never have to go without teeth. Your gums and jaw bone change shape as they heal over the next few months, so your denture will need adjustments along the way, and usually a reline once healing is complete for a secure, comfortable fit.

Coverage depends on your plan. We’re out of network with all insurance companies, but we file claims for PPO plans so you can use your benefits. Payment is due on the day of service, and your insurer reimburses you directly.

We only offer premium because adjusting to a denture is difficult enough and we want you have an easier time adjusting to eating and talking. They are also going to give you best fit and feel while providing the most natural look. Anything else is less than you deserve.

Premium dentures also set you up for success by providing a path to implant supported dentures. Premium denture material is easier to repair whereas dentures made from cheaper materials often must be replaced entirely

Often, yes. Because our dentures are made to the same standard as our implant dentures, we can often convert your existing denture to snap onto implants instead of making a new one. We’ll let you know if yours is a good candidate.
