Reasons to Get Mini Dental Implants

Properly aligned teeth keep the structure of your mouth stable. When a tooth is lost, the surrounding teeth will begin to shift into the site of the space. This results in changes to your bite, progressing into complications like tooth decay, gum disease, jaw issues, and crooked teeth.

Shifted Teeth

The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) help with chewing and jaw movements. If you lose a tooth or suffer from jaw deterioration, you may get TMJ disorder resulting in jaw pain, severe headaches, and pain when chewing.

TMJ Disorder

Your tongue, lips, cheeks, and teeth play an essential role in your speech. If you’ve lost teeth or have dentures, you’ve probably noticed some changes in the way you speak, and may even have trouble pronouncing certain words.

Loss of Speech

Teeth are necessary for biting, chewing, and grinding food. Losing a tooth or multiple teeth can affect how these actions are performed. When you have missing teeth you may struggle to chew food causing digestive issues such as acid reflux, heartburn, and malnutrition.

Digestion Disorders

When you lose a tooth the bone deteriorates slowly in that area. This causes the muscles in your face to sag. Missing teeth and thin bone cause a lack of lip support and wrinkles, aging your face. You’ll notice changes in your jawline and lip-fullness.

Learn More About Mini Dental Implants

Mini Dental Implants can be used to replace single or multiple missing or damaged teeth. With a natural look and feel, mini dental implants can help restore your smile to its full beauty and function.

Process

  1. Consultation: Your dentist will first do an oral examination and listen to your concerns. Once treatment is decided, we will take a CT scan, impression, and match the color of your natural teeth to make your implant crown(s) look as natural as possible.
  2. Treatment: If you still have remaining teeth that need to be replaced, your dentist will extract them and do the implant insertion on the same day. You’ll go home with a temporary that still gives you a beautiful smile.
  3. Impression: Once healed, the dentist will take an impression to fabricate the final crown or bridge.
  4. Cementation: At this appointment, we will try the crown or bridge before cementing to check that the bite, color, and shape are correct. Once approved, the crown will be cemented permanently.

(Removable Acrylic Overdenture)

Implant-Supported Dentures, also known as removable acrylic overdentures, are a great alternative to traditional dentures, offering more stability for a long-term solution. They are the most economical implant-supported option and can be removed by both the patient and the dentist.

Process

  1. Come in for a consultation. Once treatment is decided, we’ll take your impressions and a CT scan to best plan where implants should be placed.
  2. On the day of your treatment, you’ll have the remaining teeth extracted(if you have any remaining teeth) and implants placed with temporary dentures attached so you can walk out the same day with your teeth.
  3. Once you’ve completely healed, we’ll take impressions for the final denture. A try-in is first created to ensure that you and the dentist are happy with the final result.
  4. At the final implant appointment, small metal housings will be placed on the implants to secure the denture. Any final adjustments will be made and then you will walk out with a new, confident smile!

Fun Facts

  • 4-8 implants are needed to support the denture.
  • Removable to the patient.
  • LPRF grafting is used for bone grafts to stimulate faster healing time.
  • Implant maintenance every 6 months or as recommended.

Benefits

  • Less bulky than a traditional denture.
  • More stability to eat the foods you love.
  • Less bone is required compared to traditional implants.
  • Always have attached teeth, even during the healing process.

(Fix on Six®)

Fix on Six® is a semi-removable zirconia bridge option that offers a less bulky alternative to implant-supported dentures. The bridge attaches to the implants but is not cemented, so it can be removed by the dentist at routine checkups.

Process

  1. Consultation: Your dentist will first do an oral examination and listen to your concerns. Once treatment is decided we will take a CT scan and impression.
  2. Treatment: If you have any remaining teeth, we will extract them, followed by same-day implant placement and temporary.
  3. Impression: Once healed the dental professional will take an impression to fabricate the final bridge. The next appointment is the try-in where the patient and dentist will look to see if there are any changes needed to the function or aesthetics.  Once changes and improvements are made the lab will fabricate the final bridge.
  4. Finish: At this appointment, the dental provider will place the metal housings on the implants and attach the bridge. There may be minor adjustments to the bite that are needed. Smile with confidence!

Fun Facts

  • 6-8 implants are needed to support the bridge.
  • Semi-permanent
  • LPRF grafting is used for bone grafts to stimulate faster healing time.
  • Not removable by the patient but removable by the dentist.
  • Implant maintenance every 6 months or as recommended.

Benefits

  • No extra bulk along the gumline or roof of the mouth.
  • More stability.
  • Always have attached teeth, even during the healing process.
  • Made of strong, durable zirconia porcelain to match the look and function of natural teeth.

(Roundhouse)

A permanent implant supported bridge, also known as a Roundhouse, includes 8-12 mini dental implants placed to help secure your zirconia bridge, which is cemented directly on the implants. It can offer the most natural look and feel of our options, and it is not removable by the patient or the dentist.

Process

  1. Come in for a consultation and get a customized plan that fits your lifestyle.
  2. Receive treatment and have extractions, and implants placed, and leave with attached temporaries the same day so you walk out with a full set of teeth.
  3. Once healed have impressions taken for the final fixed bridge.
  4. At the try-in appointment, you will be able to see the style and look. After changes are agreed upon and improved, the zirconia bridge is cemented directly on the implants. Functions, feels, and looks like natural teeth!

Mini Dental Implants Are Your Solution To Missing Teeth Or Loose Dentures!

Mini dental implants are lasting, stable tooth replacements that can be used to replace one missing tooth, several missing teeth, or complete arches of teeth. The dental implant, which is made of titanium, is surgically placed in the jawbone at the site of the missing tooth. It replaces the missing tooth root and ensures that your dental restoration is stable. Our dentists can provide everything from the surgical placement of the implant to the completion of the implant restoration. Patients having extractions and implants placed will also have grafting procedures done to help with bone support and healing.
