Straight Smilin’: Clear Aligners For You
June 9, 2022
Everyone desires a beautiful smile, but many of us require assistance in achieving it. Clear orthodontic gadgets known as aligners are becoming increasingly popular. Braces urge teeth to shift by connecting brackets with wires. Aligners are a series of custom-made mouthpieces that fit snugly over the teeth. As prominent aligner companies, most patients have heard of Invisalign, Smile Direct Club, ClearCorrect, Krystal Klear, and Byte. A multitude of firms and big companies manufacture clear aligners, but because of the heavy commercialization of smiles, sometimes these big companies make errors creating an imperfect and longer timeline for the patient. At Potomac Dental Centre, we have proudly developed our own clear aligners, Straight Smilin’, that are made in our in-house lab. This allows us to provide our patients with the highest-quality, more error-free clear aligners on the market.
What are Straight Smilin’ Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are an alternative to conventional braces for guiding teeth into their right position. Clear aligners, like braces, employ a progressive force to regulate tooth movement, but without the need for metal wires or brackets. The aligners are constructed of a durable plastic substance and are customized to each person’s mouth. If a series of aligners are required, each aligner gradually moves the teeth until the necessary movement is attained.
Aligners must be worn for at least 20 hours each day to get optimal efficiency. Each aligner is used for three weeks before being replaced. The length of therapy with aligners is determined by the severity of the problem. Aligner therapy might last as little as three weeks or as long as six months. Aligners, on average, provide a substantially shorter treatment time than conventional braces.
Benefits of Straight Smilin’
Clear aligners are an excellent option for those who want to improve their smile but do not want to wear traditional metal braces. Aligners are also useful for individuals who have had previous orthodontic treatment and wish to make small changes to their smile. Using transparent aligners has various advantages:
Who Can Use Straight Smilin’
Because the invisible aligners are custom-made for a precise fit, they are best suited for adults or teenagers. It is more difficult to straighten a child’s teeth. Young individuals and their mouths are still growing and evolving; however, your dentist will be the one who can best tell you if you are a candidate for Straight Smilin’.
Clear orthodontic aligners are often utilized for patients with mildly to moderately crowded teeth or modest spacing concerns. Patients with significant crowding or spacing issues, as well as severe underbites, overbites, or crossbites, may require more extensive therapy.
How Does Straight Smilin’ Work
Clear aligners from Straight Smilin’ function in the same manner that conventional braces do: by providing precisely regulated pressures to teeth to reposition them into a healthier position. They are, however, not constructed of metal, but of translucent, flexible plastic.
Once your dentist has determined how to correct your bite, they will devise a strategy for relocating your teeth. If you choose clear aligners, you will be fitted for various versions that will make little modifications to reposition your teeth during the course of treatment.
They’re constructed of transparent plastic or acrylic and fit snugly over the teeth, although they may be removed for eating, cleaning, and flossing. Every few weeks, you’ll receive a new aligner to continue shifting your teeth into the correct position.
How Long Does It Take
The length of treatment with invisible dental aligners is determined by how far the teeth must be shifted or rotated. The longer it takes, the worse your bite is or the more crooked your teeth are. Treatment typically lasts 10 to 24 months. However, if you were a youngster who had braces and your teeth changed somewhat over time, you may require invisible teeth aligners for as little as 10 weeks.
